Initial Chemo - Cycle 3

January 27, 2012
Back at Sick Kids Hospital for her 3rd cycle of Chemo. Blood work are good today. Stuck in a Day Clinic until we have a room available at 8pm. At least we get to go and use the playrooms. Thanks for everyone's posts.

Rosie had a bad night and morning with some nausea, a side effect of her chemo. Feeling better now, thank God. Praying that all goes well tonight and tomorrow. She gets more chemo tonight.

Thanks for your prayers. Rosie had a better night and we were sent home today. Back for appointments on Friday.

~ Rosie enjoys being home, she wants to play all day and usually won't sleep til midnight. Glad she slept early last night 'coz we're going back on the road today for her appointments.

~ Rosie was upset this morning as soon as she was in the van. She knew we were headed at the hospital. She was quite tearful during her finger poke, eye test, and check ups. As soon as her appointments were finished, she cheered up in the playroom. Had a nice nap on our way home, and now full of energy and happily playing with playdough and catching up with her missed morning meals.

Rosie had a mild nosebleed last night so we went to Sick Kids ER to get her platelets checked. We found out she had no immunity with 0.1 WBC, anemic and low platelets too. (Chemo side effects) We thank God for giving us an early sign to get her checked promptly. She spent most of the time asleep and not as anxious. She received platelets and packed blood. Also thankful she had no fever or other issues so we got to go home.

Rosie cried as soon as we arrived at the Cancer clinic. As we entered the room for finger poke (blood test) she continued crying but held out her fingers for the nurse who was still getting her supplies ready. I am so proud of my brave little girl. Her WBC was good today, thanks for God's many blessings. Her platelets was low but because she had no signs of bleeding, she didn't need transfusion. They also held one of her chemo drug because of poor gait and mild swallowing issues. We are thankful that these are reversible and caught early. Thank you Blessed Lord!

Early start tomorrow of dental, hearing assessments and kidney scan. This week will be full of tests to assess Rosie's body functions before they start her on the intensive chemo cycles next week. Thank God, she didn't get sick from her brothers and had a great weekend at home. :)

This week was already fully booked with appointments. Tests like: Echogram, ECG, Kidney Scan (GFR), MRI, Dental, Visual & Hearing Test. And now, Rosie's central line decided to break during her MRI Scan today. She had to have an emergency surgery to get it replaced.

A central line is also called "central venous catheter", "CVC", "central venous line", "CVL" or "central venous access catheter." It is a tube placed into a large vein in the neck, chest or groin. It is used to administer medication or fluids, obtain blood for lab tests, and obtain heart measurements.

Happy that she had a successful surgery and doing well that we are okay to go home. Also thankful to God that it happened now and not during her Chemotherapy next week. Have a great FAMILY DAY weekend to all our family and extended family (friends)!

Touched by our loving church family. Thank you for your fellowship and overwhelming gifts. Rosie enjoyed socializing before her next 3 months of mostly hospital isolation. Glad we were able to join.
